Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones Approves 45% Workers ...

About Jerry Becerra

I am a native of San Francisco who grew up just outside of town in Daly City. I attended Jefferson High School and then went on to U. C. Berkeley. I began in the insurance industry in September of 1983 as an agent for J. C. Penney Insurance. There you could buy some auto insurance with your socks and underwear. Although the company no longer exists, they offered excellent training and launched my career. I then moved to a broker called Capital Workshop. They specialized in Attorney's Professional Liability coverage. I managed their personal lines and small commercial accounts. In 1986 I accepted an opportunity at Pennbrook Insurance Services. I was at Pennbrook for over 20 years. During that time I was a commercial lines account manager, a salesperson and the salesmanager. While there I completed my designation as a commercial property and casualty underwriter. In addition to my insurance work I have done a great deal of volunteer work. For three years I was board chair for Mobilization Against AIDS. There I involved with three Dance-a-thons and worked on the local observance of the International Candellight Memorial. Beginning at the end of 1999 I served on the board of directors for the Golden Gate Business Association. Twice between 1999 and 2006 I served as president of the organization. While there I helped launch the Pride Pages Business Directory, re-establish the GGBA's BEN group program and redevelop its web site and launch its Tourism Advisory Program. I intend to serve the GGBA board again in the near future. For recreation I like to garden, do home maintenance projects and write. I also am a fine arts painter, although I have not painted in recent years. I have traveled extensively in Europe and around the U. S., and a bit in Mexico. Sincerely, Jerry Becerra, CPCU
